In a despicable move that I, personally speaking, see as yet another demonstration of homophobia, bigotry and evil, the Proposition 8 backers in California — the grinches who are hurting same-sex couples — have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block the flurry of same-sex marriages that have been taking place in that state since Friday, after the top court’s historic rulings on Wednesday. (See NBC article.)
The Proposition 8 backers are claiming the weddings are happening too soon, and that they are supposed to have a few weeks to appeal the top court decision, and that the California Appeals Court that allowed same-sex marriages to resume on Friday didn’t have the power to do so.
Sigh . . .
This is what happens when you give citizens — i.e. religious fanatics and cultists — the power to impose their superstitious beliefs on other people. In my opinion, Proposition 8 should never have been permitted in the first place.
This is head-shakingly disgusting, and everybody who believes in equality in that state should speak out against the backers of that stupid Proposition 8.
